The First International Conference on e-learning to be Held in Riyadh this Week
His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Angary declared that the First International Conference on e-learning and Distance learning is held this week under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
His Excellency declared in a press release after the opening the second national symposium on information technology, on behalf of His Highness, the Crown Prince, that distance learning is an essential requirement, mentioning that educational programs which are accomplished by universities in this area will be provided to the various regions of the Kingdom.
His Excellency emphasized that the information technology in all areas is not only the concern of the Ministry of Higher Education, it is an international concern. His Excellency has pointed out that the information technology is needed in all majors, pointing out that the King Saud University has the priority in this field.
His Excellency emphasized that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has a high personal concern about this field, emphasizing that the directives of the King requires the support for the investment in infrastructure to establish institutions or colleges which are able to graduate students able to cope with development in this field.
His Excellency said that the computer college is one of the oldest colleges in the region and plays a major role in helping specialists, graduating students and providing services to the university departments. His Excellency added that all Saudi universities have computer colleges offering programs in this field.
His Excellency mentioned that the new established universities began in establishing computer colleges which will contribute to the development of the university in the fields pertaining of information technology. For his part, His Excellency, the President of King Saud University Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman said in the same press release that the University, in the framework of its new concern about research and development, organized many conferences attended by scientists from several countries.
His Excellency said that the intended audience in these events are the students. That because what is presented in these seminars and conferences is the results of research carried out by a group of faculty members and post-graduate students.
