Ministry of Higher Education Holds the First International Conference on e-Learning and Distance Learning :
The Scientific Committee of the First International Conference on e-Learning and Distance Learning which is organized by the National Center for e-learning and Distance Learning - the Ministry of Higher Education has declared that 32 workshops specialized in the field of e-learning and distance learning will be held on 17-18 / 3 / 1430AH - 16-17 March 2009G. These workshops will be held two days before the conferenceand they will be16 workshops per day.
The First International Conference on e-Learning and Distance Learning, the first of its kind in the region, will be held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh during the period 16-18/3/2009 - 19-21/3/1430H. It is expected that over 1500 specialists will attend this conference including educators, researchers, experts and others interested in this field.
The First International Conference on e-Learning and Distance Learning seeks to contribute in involving the e-learning and distance learning in the higher education institutions through getting benefits from past experiences in this field, exchange experiences with experts and interested people, encourage partnership and cooperation between the public and private sectors in the fields of developing e-training, e-learning and distance learning.
The importance of the conference concentrates on providing a clear importance for knowledge-based economy and connecting it with e-learning, that because knowledge has become the real power that countries, aiming to advancement and development, depend on.
It is worth to mention that the keenness of the Ministry of Higher Education for e-learning is a result of implementing the national plan for communications and information technology initiated and adopted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in a way that copes the developments witnessed by the higher education field in this area. It required to explore the international experiences and benefit from other sectors.
When the National Center for e-learning and distance education was established, it is considered to be on high level of technical facilities as well as providing qualified human recourses able to take the responsibility according to clear visions. These visions are supported by getting benefits from the expertise and experiences to achieve the aspirations to create renewal and flexible education.
